Mackenzie put a whoopie cushion
on the teacher’s chair.
Makayla told the teacher
that a bug was in her hair.
Alyssa brought an apple
with a purple gummy worm
and gave it to the teacher
just to see if she would squirm.
Elijah left a piece of plastic
dog doo on the floor,
and Vincent put some plastic vomit
in the teacher’s drawer.
Amanda put a goldfish
in the teacher’s drinking glass.
These April Fool’s Day pranks
are ones that you could use in class.
Before you go and try them, though,
there’s something I should mention:
The teacher wasn’t fooling
when she put us in detention.
Fake it and Bake it!
Fake pepperoni mini pizza: take this very popular pizza and see how well your kids know their food tastes. By switching the traditional meat pepperoni, with vegetarian pepperoni… they try something new, something that is a healthier alternative with the same taste and flavouring. Another bonus is that it is both vegetarian and kosher friendly! Shhh! Don’t tell them until they have tried a few bites.
You will need:
1 (8 ounce) package refrigerated crescent rolls
½ – ¾ cup pizza sauce
10-12 slices of vegetarian pepperoni
1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
What to do:
1. Preheat oven to 375° F
2. Place the crescent roll dough on a surface dusted with flour (so it doesn’t stick)
3. Roll it into 9×13 inch rectangle and then carefully lift and place the dough on a baking sheet sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
4. Spoon pizza sauce over the dough leaving a little space before the edge all around
5. Scatter the vegetarian pepperoni slices over the dough and then top with the shredded Mozzarella cheese.
6. Bake in preheated oven until crust is browned, 10-12 minutes.
It looks like it…it smells like it…but, does it taste like it?
Make this chocolate play dough recipe and then sculpt it to look like a brownie or a cupcake. By decorating it with real icing and sprinkles, it makes it that much more realistic! Put your creation on a plate and see if you can fool someone into taking a bite! (don’t worry, even if they do take a bite, it is edible)
Chocolate play dough recipe:
You will need:
1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup salt
½ cup cocoa powder
½ Tbsp lemon juice or white vinegar
1 ½ Tbsp canola oil
1 cup boiling water
Optional: Chocolate icing (store-bought will do fine) and sprinkles
What to do:
1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the flour, salt and cocoa
2. Add the lemon juice, oil and water and mix and quickly with a spoon
3. When it has cooled, use your hands to continue mixing. Knead until dough is smooth.
4. Sculpt the dough into a traditional rectangular brownie shape, or into a chocolate cupcake shape. Decorate with chocolate icing and/or sprinkles.
Tip: When I made this with my kids, we put the iced cupcakes into paper cupcake cups to make it look more realistic and my husband took a giant bite!
Taking your invisible dog for a walk…
This is too funny! My daughter and son each made one and together they took their “invisible” dogs for a walk. They got exercise and a lot of really strange looks!
What to do:
1. Buy an inexpensive dog leash and collar, and connect them. (Many dollar stores sell them)
2. Carefully untwist and stretch out a wire coat hanger. (Have an adult assist with this step)
3. Using tape, attach the hanger to the underside of the leash and the inside of the collar.
4. Go out for a walk holding the leash above the ground, the unbending leash gives the impression that an invisible dog is pulling the person along.
Thanks to the website http://family.go.com for this totally hilarious and fun prank!
Enjoy creating these fun projects and getting some laughs out of it too!
Even though April fool’s day is only one day, these fun activities are good any time of the year.
