Shell Searching at The Boca Beach Club

Thursday, February 11th, 2010

This morning started off sunny, but cooler, and the kids and I decided to go shell searching along the beach by the Boca Beach Club (where we are staying in Boca Raton, Florida).

The Outcome: Success!

1. Each child collected almost two-thirds of a pail of shells to bring home to their friends as souveniers (shhh, it’s a surprise). They were thrilled with their collections.

2. The sand is wonderfully soft to walk on, and we had lots of fun strolling along, digging in our toes, and picking up shells along the way. We passed smiling shell collectors of all ages.

3. We talked about the sandcastles we would like to build (using some of our shells as decorations).

4. Since the resort is ocean-side, access to the beachfront is ‘easy-peesy-lemony-squeezey’ (direct quote from my DD).

The Boca Beach Club is definitely a place for shell searching (and maybe some soul searching too). Learn more at www.bocabeachclub.com.

Zero-Entry Pool Scores a Ten

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

The zero-entry pool at the Boca Beach Club in Boca Raton has scored a ten with my kids, and other families with young children visiting the hotel. Children love the fact that there is a very gentle slope into the pool making it safe, fun and easy to play in.

The zero-entry pool is one of three inviting pools on a sprawling ocean-side patio. There is another family pool as well. It means that your children can giggle, laugh, squeal and play, in the company of other parents and children who appreciate the noise.

Yet at the same time, you are situated in a casually elegant setting. Cushioned poolside seating is pleasing and comfortable in turquoise, yellow and white hues. There are lovely, big umbrellas done in white frills, creating a Riviera feel. And of course the zero-entry pool has an ocean backdrop to admire and appreciate.

Finally, dining outside at an outdoor cafe or poolside dining, makes it easy to spend many hours lounging and playing together outside in the sunshine.

It looks like a sunny day. Time to relax!

The Boca Beach Club in Florida

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

This week’s blog posts will come to you from The Boca Beach Club in Boca Raton. I am excited to share a new warm-weather vacation option for families, in the nearby sunny state of Florida.

First impressions … Wow! Even after waking up at 4 am for an 8:30 am flight, one could not help but be overwhelmed by the beauty of the ocean (which I am listening to right now from my room), the beckoning stretch of beach (which resulted in soaked pants from giggling, wading kids), and three gorgeous pools (including a zero-entry family pool).

You can get a preliminary feel for the newly renovated property at www.bocabeachclub.com, but it doesn’t even begin to capture the dazzling view and casual elegance.

I look forward to a week of fun in the sun together with you.

The View at The Breakers

Monday, February 9th, 2009

As I wake up this morning to the sounds of the ocean waves lapping on the shore, and the rising sun peeping through the curtains, I am constantly aware of the beauty that surrounds me at The Breakers in Palm Beach. Before my little world wakes up, and we start getting washed and dressed with lots of little requests for the day (all desirable), I wanted to share the beauty of the resort hotel itself.

As you drive up, you are immediately impressed by the gardens alongside, which guide you to the door. Immediately and easily, your bags are taken and you are welcomed into the luxurious lobby. There is then lots of assistance to ensure that your check-in is completed with ease.

If you are delayed at all in getting to the front desk, it will be because you can’t take your own eyes off the magnificent ceilings and chandeliers, comparable to the finest castles of Europe (Versailles in Paris easily springs to mind). You quickly find that this stunning decor follows through the hotel, with ballrooms exceeding all fairy tales, and lovely terraces complimenting the beauty inside.

And yet as mentioned in my prior post, children are made to feel comfortable in this environment, as they are invited to choose a colourful Breakers bracelet to wear upon arrival upon the start.

Outside the hotel iteslf, parents and children everywhere are equally delighted by a beautiful beachfront with lots of sand castle potential, numerous pools, (including a kiddie and zero-entry pool), patio restaurants and gorgeous landscaping.

There are also lots of facilities for children and a delicious family restaurant (amongst others), but the story will have to wait to unfold, as I see and hear the first contented little yawns and stretches of the day.

I will just say that I already have the overwhelming sense that a family looking for a memorable beach getaway, and a couple looking for a romantic escape can both find it at The Breakers Resort.Â
